Generally speaking I can get new websites indexed on Google within a few days (my record so far is a few minutes, but that’s just fluke) but the real value comes from ranking on page one of Google for search terms that your potential customers are likely to be searching for – and that’s what I focus on.
Don’t be fooled by the telesales organisations promising to get you guaranteed page one Google ranking – successful search engine marketing isn’t just about getting to page one, it’s about having the knowledge & experience to know which terms to aim to get to page one for – and then having the knowledge & skills to do what is required to get the site onto page one for these terms.
I built these skills up by necessity originally, as I couldn’t afford to pay the prices that I was being quoted for the REAL search engine optimisation services I’d come accross, and I was savvy enough to know that those who seemed affordable – weren’t offering real SEO services – so I started to learn to do it myself, for my own websites – made a complete hash of it, and learned from there.
I also project manage affordable search engine friendly web design.
I’ve been doing SEO for quite a few years now, but that’s not really all that important, as the search engine world changes so frequently, that what matters isn’t how long someone’s been doing SEO, but how well they’ve kept up with how it’s been changing.
