There are plenty of money & time traps on the web which will cause frustration, as a large majority of the apparent opportunities & systems to make extra money, are misleading to say the least.

So I thought I’d talk here about some legitimate ways to make extra money that I know from personal experience are worth the effort.

1)Email List Building & Marketing

Email marketing is one of the best legitimate ways to make extra money online, in my humble opinion.

We’re not talking about SPAM by the way, we’re talking about legit double opt in email marketing, in that someone asks to join your list  & has the opportunity to leave at any time, but most won’t leave if you do it right.

It’s really simple to do, all you need is an account with Aweber , it’s $1 for the first month & then $19 per month thereafter, and Aweber handles everything, you just follow the on screen instructions.

I recently wrote a post on how to make money from list marketing so for more info just go read that. I’ve also just written a  step by step guide to making money from list / email marketing. I’ll put a link here in the next few days when it’s available.

2)Affiliate Marketing.

You don’t have to be a genius to make money online as an affiliate.

Most standard / offline businesses involve buying products & re-selling for a profit, there is risk involved, you need money to start, and in order to make sure you’re not stuck with your stock, you need to sell at a keen price – which usually means margins aren’t great.

Affiliate marketing is completely different! No stock / inventory to buy, no risk, you need very little money to start – and profit margins are huge seeing as there is no stock to purchase.

There are a number of ways to approach affiliate marketing, the approach I would recommend you begin with, is that of starting small 1 – 5 page sites, which take an hour or so to create, and which can be up & running straight away & making small amounts of affiliate commission for you per month.

These kinds of sites cost next to nothing to create & run, and relatively little time & effort, yet if you hit the right niche’s & the right affiliate products, it’s quite easy to make small amounts of money with these sites. Many people ignore this approach because they hear that each site is only likely to make small amounts of income each month – yet the beauty is that it all adds up, so if you can make one site pretty easily which makes $20 per month with very little continual effort, although that one site isn’t going to represent much extra money for you – what if you had 10 of these small sites, 20, 3o?  Surely once you get into creating them & you find that they’re making small amounts of money each month, you’d spend as much time as you can churning out more & more of them?

Many people look at affiliate marketing as a view to making big money fast – so they ignore this method as it’s too realistic, making small amounts of money with small & easy to build sites isn’t sexy, doesn’t give them the thrill they’re chasing. So if you’re not bothered about the thrill & chasing pipe dreams (not that you can’t make big money super fast online, it’s possible – but not probable) and you just want a real way to make some legitimate extra money each month from something which you can start doing right now, then this may be the approach for you.

3) Blogging

Blogging is a pretty legitimate way to make extra money online, affiliate marketing is one way to make money blogging, as is google adsense, but these aren’t the only ways.

Again, most people looking at blogging will be looking for fast big money, so for most people blogging will be a disappointment, at least for a while, as even some of the really successful bloggers I know only made modest amounts of money to begin with.

But if you’re just after a way to make some real money online, and you’re happy even if it’s only relatively small amounts to begin with, knowing that you’ll keep at it once you can see that you’re making at least something (which will mean you’ll get better & better at it, get a larger following, and your blogging income should continue to grow) then blogging may be a good focus for you to make some extra dough.

4) Hosting Re-selling

If you’re relatively familiar with websites & hosting, you could consider re-selling  low cost hosting packages.

You don’t need to be a techno wizard to do this, any support you need you’ll get from the host provider, you’ll basically be the go between or middleman.

The cost to do this is relatively small, for instance if you’re in the UK – 1and1 offer an massive 250 Gig, unlimited bandwidth hosting account, with 10 free domains, for £25 per month, or 100 Gig & 5 free domains for £15 per month. Or if you’re in the US, hostgator do a hosting reseller account for $24.95.

Or if you want a more hands off hosting reseller approach which means you just earn the commission & have no work to do apart from that, whether you’re in the US, UK, or most other countries,  have a look at this Free Reseller Hosting – this is a good option if you know absolutely nothing about hosting and don’t plan on learning, with this solution the vendor does everything for you.

5) Ebay

 Obviously Ebay is nothing new to you – you more than likely
have an Ebay account & do the odd bit of buying & selling on Ebay
- but did you know that you more than likely have a couple of hundred
quids worth of “stuff” lying around that you never use, and will probably end up losing or binning?

People will buy just about anything on Ebay – and the reason for that is UTILITY… which means that other people may have a use for something which you have no use for anymore. To you it’s classed as “junk” now as you have no utility for it, but for someone who does have a use for it, it is worth something. It may not be worth a great deal, but surely getting rid of it for even a dollar or two plus shipping (if you’re clever you’ll make a small amount on the shipping & handling too but don’t get greedy or you’ll get poor reviews what it
comes to delivery costs).

You may think of Ebay as the place to buy things, because you can get things so cheap – but actually in many cases this is an out of date perception, because actually many things are overpriced now on Ebay compared to the prices you can find elsewhere on the web, such as directly from retailers websites.

This perception of Ebay still being the place for bargains, makes Ebay a great place to make some legitimate extra money – as it means there’s a pretty good chance that whatever you have, has as high a perceived value on Ebay as anywhere else – or possibly even higher.

This doesn’t always work of course, sometimes you’ll be disappointed by the price an item goes for, so never sell an item at 0.99 no reserve unless you can cope with selling it for that price if that’s all it goes for.

Ebay is also a great place to run a business to make extra money, you get the contact details of every ebayer who makes a purchase from you, so if you can sell something which is a consumable, or which requires consumables – then you can contact the sellers directly via email / phone to establish them as a long term consumables client.

Like with affiliate marketing, blogging, hosting re-selling or anything else, making bug money on Ebay is possible, but not without a lot  of time, energy & focus – but if you’re just wanting to make some legitimate extra money, then Ebay is brilliant.
