My name is Kev Lewis, I’m a web marketer – and web marketing consultant.

I got into web marketing properly, in the late 1990′s, when I was in my early 20′s. I’d started my first web based business (which was some crappy business opportunity) aged 17 or 18, and I’d started to pick up some knowledge of how to get traffic & how to sell stuff online. I started a business buying & selling computers some time in the late 90′s (seems like a lifetime ago now!) – I started selling them via newspapers etc to begin with, but then I had an ecommerce website developed, and started to apply what I’d learned in order to sell online.  We did OK, but after a couple of years the computer market became ridiculously competitive, previously we were taking advantage of the fact that PC retailers were making massive margins, and we were selling online for much cheaper prices & still making nice profits, but after a couple of years this changed big time as the web started to become more mainstream, and it became more & more difficult to make a profit from selling computers online.

So I moved on, and created what was one of the first successful affiliate websites – selling gadgets online. I did this by getting pages to the top of Google that were deep-linking to affiliate products, there were very few people doing this at the time so it did OK. Again though, as the web became more & more competitive, and this area became more & more competitive, over time it became more difficult to make a profit this way. By now I’d started to offer my services as a freelance SEO consultant, so I just took on more clients & became a full time SEO consultant, with a few employed positions here & there.

I’ve done this for years now – I no longer promote my own SEO services, I have enough clients to keep me going, and I get lots of referrals from my clients. I run a business offering high quality search engine friendly business website design , which keeps me busy – and this came about because I was so often recommending clients have their websites re-developed to fix problems which effect SEO & conversion rates, so it ended up that I was doing more web development stuff than SEO stuff, so it made sense to create the web design business.

I do sometimes still take on SEO work, depending on what it is – if you’re looking for someone & you think I may be the person to help, then contact me and I’ll take a look, but I’m not actively seeking SEO projects.
